In the wake of the 2010 oil spill, the tiny town of Venice, Louisiana and its blue-collar shrimping brethren are struggling to stay afloat. Desperate to preserve their way of life, six captains hit the bayou in search of lucrative white shrimp.
After one of the worst opening days in history, the entire fleet is on life-support. The shrimp captains confront a storm that threatens to end their season just as it begins, and Acy's son finds himself in a career-threatening fight of his own.
With the shrimp supply scarce, Kip abandons all loyalties and heads to Alabama, leaving Acy and Waylon tempted to follow in his wake. Dardar tries to catch a break but catches far more, while Blimp is convinced there's a Cajun curse on his boat.
Still in Alabama, Kip challenges his longtime mentor, Pops, to a shrimping duel. Blimp risks his life changing his 3-ton boat's propeller under treacherous conditions. Trae has a heated argument with his friend and deckhand, Blue, that turns ugly.
Trae runs the risk of going permanently blind when battery acid shoots into his eyes. Waylon and the Miss Carmine are dealt a series of mechanical blows. Acy lobbies a celebrity chef to cook with local shrimp, while Blimp and TimTim go duck hunting.
Blimp is dealt every captain's worst nightmare when a deckhand falls overboard and goes lost at sea. Dardar loses power in a dangerous bayou, while Kip loses steering to his boat. Waylon fights to collect his payday from a buyer who owes him money.
With only 72 hours left in the season, the captains host a shrimp boil and gear up for one last money-making shove. Dardar and Trae save a captain's sinking boat, while Blimp celebrates the season's end with a date in New Orleans with his wife.
