Am 11. September 1991 macht sich in Texas eine Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia auf den Weg von Laredo nach Houston. Es ist erst der zweite Flug des nagelneuen zweimotorigen Propellerflugzeugs. Doch als die Piloten Brad Patridge und Clint Rodosovich zum Landeanflug ansetzen, fällt die Maschine wie ein Stein vom Himmel. Noch im Stürzen kommt es zu einer gewaltigen Explosion an Bord, dann stürzt die Embraer auf ein Feld. Alle 14 Insassen sind sofort tot. Durch den heftigen Aufprall lassen die Trümmer kaum noch erkennen, dass es sich hierbei um die Teile eines Flugzeugs handelt.
On its second routine trip of the morning, Continental Express Flight #2574 is nearing the end of its 90-minute flight from Laredo to Houston, Texas. A state-of-the-art Embraer 120 Brasilia, the commuter plane is scheduled to make several more short flights. But just as the pilots are preparing to land, the plane falls out of the sky. Dropping thousands of feet in mere seconds, there is a massive explosion as the aircraft crashes into a farmer's field. All 14 people on board die in the disaster, and the impact is so violent that the wreckage is not recognizable as an airplane. Investigators first suspect there was a bomb on board, but when the theory is dismissed, they dig deeper and eventually reveal a chilling story of good intentions gone horribly wrong.

Maszyna straciła sterowność, po czym wpadła w lot nurkowy i zaczęła się rozpadać z powodu ogromnych przeciążeń. Samolot uderzył w ziemię z dużą prędkością około 110 kilometrów od Houston w Teksasie. Zginęli wszyscy pasażerowie. Śledztwo obarczyło przewoźnika za stworzenie warunków do nieprzestrzegania procedur naprawczych.

Padající tisíce stop za pouhé sekundy dochází k masivní explozi, když letadlo narazí do pole farmáře. Všech 14 lidí na palubě zahynulo při katastrofě a náraz je tak prudký, že vrak nelze rozpoznat jako letadlo. Vyšetřovatelé nejprve tušili, že na palubě byla bomba, ale když je teorie odmítnuta, hloubí hlouběji a nakonec odhalí mrazivý příběh o dobrých úmyslech, které se strašně pokazily.
