Many years have passed since Goku first searched for the Dragon Balls. He is a grown man, with a wife and son. He and his friends have settled into their own lives and, for the most part, things are rather peaceful. Then one day, Goku learns he is really a Saiyan and comes from another planet. Now begins new adventures for Goku and his friends as they defend their home against new, more powerful threats.

Overview:	Son Goku, der Held aus Dragon Ball, ist mittlerweile erwachsen geworden und hat seine Freundin Chi Chi geheiratet. Zusammen haben sie einen Sohn mit dem Namen Gohan. Eines Tages erhält Son Goku Besuch von seinem bösen Bruder Radditz, der ihm eröffnet, dass er kein Mensch ist, sondern ein Saiya-jin vom Planeten Vegeta, der zur Erde geschickt wurde, um die Herrschaft über den Planeten zu erlangen. Aufgrund einer schweren Kopfverletzung verlor er jedoch sein Gedächtnis und vergaß seine Mission. Nun fordert ihn Radditz auf, seiner eigentlichen Bestimmung nachzugehen. Doch Son Goku weigert sich, seine neue Heimat zu verraten und muss von nun an gegen seine eigenen Rasse antreten, welche die Erde versklaven will… Many years have passed since Goku first searched for the Dragon Balls. Cinq années se sont écoulées depuis la défaite de Satan petit coeur face à SonGoku en finale du Grand Tournoi des Arts Martiaux. Notre héros est désormais marié à Chichi et tout deux ont donné naissance à un petit garçon prénommé Son Gohan. Mais tous nos amis vont bientôt devoir affronter de nombreux guerriers : tout d'abord les supers guerriers de l'espace, avec Végéta à leur tête, le terrible Freezer, puis les cyborgs C-16, C-17 et C-18, jusqu'à l'arrivée de Cell qui absorbera deux des cyborgs pour devenir "Perfect Cell" et pour finir Boubou (Boo)... Dragon Ball Z narra le avventure di Goku, ormai divenuto adulto, il quale si è sposato con Chichi e da cui ha avuto due figli, Gohan e, successivamente, Goten. Con il proseguire della serie e delle avventure, aumentano sia gli avversari sia la loro potenza, e le battaglie che ne derivano causano un allontanamento sempre maggiore da quella che era la base della storia in Dragon Ball, ovvero la ricerca delle famose Sfere del drago. Si privilegiano così la crescita dei personaggi ed il susseguirsi degli scontri, affidandosi ad una trama piuttosto semplice e ripetitiva, ma rivelatasi efficace. De serie gaat over Goku en zijn vrienden (de Z-Warriors) die de aarde moeten beschermen en andere fictionele planeten tegen verschillende slechteriken die een planeet willen veroveren of vernietigen. Terwijl de originele anime Dragonball alleen gaat over Goku als kind en begin volwassen en het zoeken naar de dragonballs, gaat Dragon Ball Z naast de avonturen van Goku ook over zijn afkomst/geschiedenis en zijn eerste opgroeiende zoon Gohan. Hiernaast wordt er ook aandacht besteed aan de rivalen van Goku namelijk Vegeta en Piccolo die van slecht later goed worden. Dragon Ball Z bevat ook meer drama dan Dragon Ball en heeft een wat serieuzere toon. (Bron: Wikipedia)
