A mockumentary about life in a mid-sized suboffice paper merchants in a bleak British industrial town, where manager David Brent thinks he's the coolest, funniest, and most popular boss ever. He isn't. That doesn't stop him from embarrassing himself in front of the cameras on a regular basis, whether from his political sermonizing, his stand-up 'comedy', or his incredibly unique dancing. Meanwhile, long-suffering Tim longs after Dawn the engaged receptionist and keeps himself sane by playing childish practical jokes on his insufferable, army-obsessed deskmate Gareth. Will the Slough office be closed? Will the BBC give David a game show? Will Tim and Dawn end up with each other? And more importantly, will Gareth realize what a hopeless prat he is?

Cette série met en scène le quotidien des employés de la Cogirep, une entreprise spécialisée dans la papeterie. Le patron, Gilles Triquet, persuadé d'être très cool, est en réalité détesté de tous les employés, sa nullité en tant que manager d'équipe et son humour pathétique le rendant particulièrement impopulaire. Dans ce triste décor, différents incidents ont lieu. Ainsi, des rumeurs de licenciement surviennent, des montages numériques à caractère pornographique mettant en scène les cadres de l'entreprise circulent, des films amateurs gores sont échangés entre employés et des réunions amicales et festives tournent au cauchemar...
L'entreprise Les Papiers Jennings, chef de file national de l'industrie papetière, est en pleine restructuration. Le gérant régional de la succursale de Côte-de-Liesse, dans l'arrondissement Saint-Laurent à Montréal, est David Gervais (le nom de famille est un hommage à Ricky Gervais qui est le co-créateur de l'émission originale, l'acteur tenant le rôle correspondant et incidemment de racines canadiennes (sa parenté paternelle est franco-ontarienne); le prénom est sans doute emprunté au rôle original, David Brent). Il devra compétitionner avec la succursale de Terrebonne et opérer un important effort pour éviter la fermeture de sa propre succursale. Il devra également diriger un bureau d'employés parfois rebelles.
La Ofis muestra el diario vivir de una oficina de la empresa papelera «Lozano», encabezada por el jefe de sucursal, Manuel Cerda (Luis Gnecco), definido como «un personaje patético y con escasa habilidad social»,3 y el asistente del gerente –que se autodenomina «gerente-asistente», subiéndose el rango– Cristián Müller (Mauricio Dell). Las situaciones cómicas provienen en su mayoría de las acciones de Cerda, quien trata de entablecer relaciones con sus empleados, mediante un peculiar sentido del humor que no hace más que avergonzar a los trabajadores de la oficina.3 El personaje de Manuel Cerda se caracteriza por su ignorancia, falta de vocabulario, xenofobia –sufrido por su empleado Jesús, de origen peruano–4 y sexismo inconscientes. Cerda debe además, enfrentar la reducción del personal de su sucursal, que lo lleva a enfrentarse diariamente con Jimena Ibarra (interpretada por Liliana García), esposa del dueño de la empresa, que reemplaza a su marido porque éste tiene un avanzado cáncer, que le provocará la muerte durante la serie.
