影片由北京西河星汇影业出品，中国导演贾樟柯担任监制，邀请来自巴西、俄罗斯、印度、中国、南非五个“金砖国家”的五位女性导演，以女性视角发声，分别以“当代女性情感与社会”为主题拍摄一部电影短片，而五部独立的短片将汇集为一部片名为《半边天》的集锦长片。
