在未来世界里，有一个人与恐龙和谐共处的地方，和想象中不同的是，这儿的恐龙拥有小宠物般的体型，虽然淘气贪吃，却对人类忠诚友好。人们还发明了一种神奇的爆龙战车，可以协助小恐龙进化成威武勇猛的大恐龙，参加当地赫赫有名的恐龙对战大赛。能够参加恐龙对战大赛的人们有一个响亮的称号--“驯龙斗士”，大家都梦寐以求拥有自己的恐龙并成为强大的驯龙斗士。主人公七岁男孩心奇就拥有一只很强的小霸王龙，但是他的霸王龙特别叛逆，常常喜欢和他作对，爱发脾气，还爱睡懒觉，还要到处闯祸，这让他头疼不已。为了能够成为强大的驯龙斗士，心奇只能硬着头皮想办法驯服叛逆的小霸王龙，在驯服小霸王龙的过程中，心奇明白了搭档间需要互相了解与体谅，只有相互的了解才能让小霸王龙信服于他，心奇通过驯服小恐的历程，学会了体谅别人的感受，让自己得以成长。
