故事講述了林雪娥早年為救家人，誣陷鄭細鳳殺人，細鳳不忿被冤枉，越押逃走。十八年後，雪娥長子劉志光長大成人，任職懲教署。細鳳之子林奕龍誤入歧途，被判入勞役中心，重遇志光。奕龍故意為難志光，但志光卻細心引導奕龍返回正途。經歷重重波折，二人成為了好友。 此時，細鳳回港尋找奕龍，雪娥幼子志基利慾薰心，先殺細鳳養子鄭偉，更冒認是細鳳之子，期間，志基因恐雪娥洩露真相而錯手將她殺死。志光見其弟喪心病狂，決大義滅親，與奕龍聯手對付志基…
