Dans les années 1960 en France, les braquages se multiplient, la police est confrontée à des gangs très professionnels qui laissent peu de traces et brouillent les pistes. Un commissaire va alors impulser un changement radical de méthodes. François Le Mouël propose d'identifier des criminels potentiels, les suivre et intervenir le plus vite possible pendant ou après l'infraction. En 1964, La Brigade de Recherche et d'Intervention, la BRI, rebaptisée l'Antigang par les médias, est née.
