Arita-yaki

This program takes you on a journey throughout Japan and explores the charm of the ceramic culture. In this episode, we'll introduce Arita-yaki, a luminous white porcelain with a hard and shiny surface. Painted onto the surface is the delicate and elegant decorations. Known as Japan's first porcelain, Arita-yaki produces a unique and distinctive style. Not only did its popularity evolve in Japan but the vessel had quite a significant impact in Europe as well. In this episode, we'll show the traditional red color that has fascinated the aristocrats of Europe, the expression of the shape and pure white porcelain, as well as the different viewpoints of Arita-yaki, which has continued to adapt throughout each era.
