TBC 개국 15주년 특집 드라마. 80년대를 맞이하여 사라져 가는 한국의 정서를 되살리자는 취지로 기획된 '대춘향전'은 남원 민속촌, 남한 산성 등에서 야외로케로 6개월동안 촬영되었으며, 당시에는 이례적으로 컬러 방송용으로 제작되었다.
