In un lasso di terra scarno e inospitale, il poliziotto Enzo Vitello, uomo dal buio passato, è ossessionato da “Dostoevskij”, killer seriale che uccide con una peculiarità: accanto al corpo l'omicida lascia sempre una lettera con la propria desolante e chiarissima visione del mondo, della vita e dell’oscurità che Vitello sente risuonare al suo interno.
