Now that they have a young son, Lars and Katherine would like to trade their cramped Los Angeles rental for a spacious three-bedroom house with a garage where Lars can store his 11 bicycles, three cars and the boat he recently built. They'd also like their new home to showcase the furniture they've inherited from their families. Sadly, the pricey L.A. market means their million dollar budget won't go far, so they'll have put some sweat equity into their new home to get everything they want and more. Once they find the right house, major renovations begin in the kitchen and the bedrooms, but a costly wall removal bid stops them in their renovation tracks. With the budget skyrocketing and surprise plumbing costs, Lars and Katherine will need to set their priorities in order to get all the work done on time.
