  • S01E02 Episode 2

    Work begins on the chosen vessel, the Dover, as Alan Herd tries his hand at shot-blasting to prepare the boat for its first coat of primer.

  • S01E03 Episode 3

    Alan Herd examines the history of the vessel, the Dover, and visits Whitney sawmills, where he learns about air-dried oak - the wood from which the boat's window frames are made.

  • S01E04 Episode 4

    The sub-floor frame is built, and Alan Herd visits Midland Chandlers in Penkridge, Staffordshire, to examine accessories for the boat.

  • S01E05 Episode 5

    The walls and floors are fitted to the Dover, while Alan Herd talks to an expert about installing a sophisticated electrical system on the vessel.

    The kitchen is built, complete with a galley unit and modern cabinets. Meanwhile, Alan Herd discusses lighting options and installs a water purification unit.

  • S01E07 Episode 7

    Alan Herd chooses the diesel oven and sanitary facilities for the barge. He also talks to boat builder Keith Ball about the new back cabin.

    The boat is rubbed down in preparation for painting, and Alan Herd is pleased when the seating for the foredeck is built.
