哪吒見天下大旱，不忍眾生遭劫，前往水族興師問罪，與東海龍王三太子敖丙大打出手，但妖族作梗，殺死敖丙後栽贓於哪吒。 東海龍王興師問罪，哪吒由於不願牽累父母，於當場自戕，以此謝罪。後來哪吒發現昔日大旱與敖丙之死，均為蛇姬逆謀篡位的手段。她與妖族大帝連手，將四位龍王囚禁，才使得龍宮易主，從此成了四海之王。 就在一同尋找法寶，以及對抗蛇姬追殺的旅途中，小龍女與哪吒從原本不信任的敵對立場，逐漸建立了深厚的情感，兩人攜手作戰，最後終於集齊了五項法寶，打敗蛇姬與妖族大帝，成功替水族復國，伸張正義。
