Charles macht Ernst: Um endlich fit zu werden, meldet er sich für einen Rundlauf um Mount Pleasant. Während er sich mit Muskeltraining, Rad- und Kanufahren vorbereitet, braucht ihn die Klinik allerdings in einigen Notfällen. U.a. liegt eine Stute seit fast 48 Stunden in Wehen. Für das Fohlen sieht es nicht gut aus, doch Dr. Pol und Charles geben alles, um wenigstens das Muttertier zu retten. Der hohe Betrieb in der Praxis gefährdet schließlich sogar Charles’ Teilnahme an dem Rennen.
The summer season is in high gear at the clinic as life-and-death situations stream in. Dr. Pol and Charles visit Stough Farms and Farmer Bill is one happy camper when he finds out that two-thirds of his cows are pregnant! At the clinic, Dr. Sandra examines a goat that gave birth the previous night. Its concerned owners suspect there may still be another baby inside. Meanwhile, Dr. Pol is across town at the Mogg's, tending to a pig that is suffering violent seizures.
