On November 1, 2003, 14-year-old Charlene Downes left her home in Blackpool and was never seen again. This documentary examines the events that followed. A wall of lies and misinformation hindered the subsequent investigation into Charlene's disappearance, until one man stepped forward. The information this witness gave to the police unveiled what was considered to be Britain's first grooming-gang scandal. It also enabled Lancashire Police to launch its biggest-ever investigation, including secret surveillance of two new suspects.
