民國四十年的牛埔鎮，在本省人和外省人的隔閡中有了衝突，但 卻因關懷和心中的愛，將彼此的感情緊緊的連在一起。劇中的所有悲劇，皆因省籍衝突而造成的後果，對於人生的刻劃 尤其深刻，愛、恨、悲、喜，深入人心，最後仍靠人性的愛化解了 所有的仇恨，幫助每一個人渡過了最苦的歲月。
