여름에 해가 지지 않고, 겨울에 해가 뜨지 않는 곳, 북극. 신비로운 미지의 동물과 황홀한 오로라가 펼쳐지는 곳, 북극. 그런데 지금, 북극이 녹아내리고 있다. '세계 극지의 해'를 맞아 벼랑 끝으로 몰려가고 있는 북극을 찾아 광대한 자연과 그 자연 속에서 살아가는 원주민인 '이누이트(Innuit)'의 삶을 취재함으로써, 자연의 법칙을 인류가 운영하면서 어느 순간 지구가 치명적인 한계를 향해 달려가고 있음을, 북극지역의 자연 동물 인간 모두가 본래의 형태에서 얼마나 멀어지고 있는지를 들려주고자 한다. 온난화의 징후가 지구촌 곳곳에서 들려오고 있는 지금, 인류는 그리고 한국인들은 자신의 바로 앞까지 와 있는 대재앙의 경고를 얼마나 인식하고 있을까?
