Bronski is a good policeman: young, ambitious and responsible. Bernstein, the spoiled son of the Chief of Police, is a show-off who dropped out of law school and now wants to start his police career in Chief Inspector Micklitz's department, of all places. Naturally nothing is allowed to happen to the chief's son and so Micklitz comes up with the idea of giving Bronski, his best man, Bernstein as a sidekick. Keeping order in the archives, driving suspects to the police station - Micklitz has planned such unspectacular tasks for Bronski and Bernstein. And yet every assignment of the unequal partners leads to adventurous situations. The duo encounters explosive criminal cases and investigates on their own. Bronski and Bernstein become friends in a love-hate relationship and regularly bring their boss to the brink of despair.
