Il mercenario solitario Guts viaggia verso delle terre che sono devastate da una guerra secolare. La ferocia e la sua abilità in battaglia attirano l’attenzione di Griffith, il capo dei mercenari chiamati Squadra dei Falchi. Guts diventa l’alleato più stretto di Griffith e anche il suo confidente, ma malgrado le loro vittorie Guts inizia a chiedersi perché stia combattendo per il sogno di un’altra persona che vuole governare il regno. L’ignaro Guts non sa che l’inamovibile ambizione di Griffith trascinerà entrambi verso un terribile fato.
