Foreign Exchange

Foreign Exchange had two major sets, one in Ireland, and the other in Perth, Western Australia. Character Brett Miller and his family live underneath their restaurant, only to find a rock that opens a portal into the basement level of O'Keefes College, an Irish boarding school (which is in reality Castlehackett House, near Tuam, Co. Galway[1]). There he unexpectedly bumps into Hannah O'Flaherty, a student from Galway, who is delighted to learn that when she turns a similar rock on her side of the portal, she can escape the grey and winter of Ireland to the sun and summer of Australia. The show revolves around these two characters, who are the only two to know and use the portal with the exception of Cormac MacNamara, who learns about the portal near the end of the season. Hannah O'Flaherty egy ír diáklány, aki az O'Keefe Kollégiumban tanul, Írországban. Hannah szobatársa Tara Keegan, akivel a lány nem mindig jön ki, ugyanis Tara nagyképű és öntelt. Hannah egyik legjobb barátja Cormac McNamara, aki a kollégium egyik legjobb tanulója. Brett Miller egy ausztrál gimnazista, célja, hogy profi surfös legyen. Családjával Perth-ben élnek. Anyja, Jackie Craig Payne-nel házasodik újra össze, így a Miller családtól örökölt, hatalmas villába költöznek, amelyet Brett kénytelen megosztani két újdonsült testvérével, Wayne-nel, és a 9 éves Meredith-szel. Mire Brett megérinti, a falon furcsa, zöld fény áramlik szét, amiről kiderül, hogy nem más, mint egy portál. Félelmét leküzdve, Brett átlép a kapun, és nagy meglepődésére szintén egy pincében találja magát. A pince pedig nem más, mint az O'Keefe Kollégium raktára. A fiú csodálkozva néz körül a helyen, s óvatosan kimerészkedik. Szerencsétlenségére a lányok fürdőszobájában lukad ki, ahol éppen zuhanyoznak. A lányok azonnal jelentik, hogy betolakodó van az intézetben, így Brett lélekszakadva bújik el a pajtában, ahol belerohan Hanna-ba. A fiú hadarva beszél neki a portálról, amely Ausztráliából Írországba hozta őt. A lány persze nem hisz neki, de amikor lemegy a pincébe saját szemével is meggyőződik arról, hogy Brett igazat mond. Foreign Exchange è stata una serie televisiva australiana trasmessa da Nine Network, in Italia è andata in onda in prima visione su Disney Channel ed in chiaro su Italia 1. La serie tratta di due ragazzi, Hannah O'Flaherty (Lynn Styles) e Brett Miller (Zachary Garred), che sono in grado di viaggiare istantaneamente dall'Irlanda all'Australia e viceversa grazie ad una sorta di varco composto di energia magnetica (che nella serie viene comunemente chiamato portale) situato nelle cantine del college O'Keefe (in Irlanda) e della casa di Brett (in Australia).

Foreign Exchange is een kinder/jeugd televisieprogramma dat werd gemaakt door de Ierse omroep Radio Telefís Éireann (RTÉ) en de Australische omroep Southern Star Entertainment en Magma Films. Alles verliep in samenwerking met Screenwest. De serie vertelt het verhaal over Hannah O'Flaherty, een Iers meisje dat naar een internaat gaat, en Brett Miller, een typisch Australische jongen die van surfen houdt. Ze ontmoetten elkaar doordat er zowel in de kelder van het internaat als in de kamer van Brett een portaal zit waardoor beide naar de andere kant van de wereld kunnen gaan. Lá, ele encontra uma garota chamada Hannah O'Flaherty, e conta a ela como ele chegou lá através do portal. Eles se tornam grandes amigos. Hannah passa a ser conhecida pela família de Brett como uma irlandesa que se mudou para Austrália. Na Irlanda, Brett é conhecido como ajudante do zelador Seamus. Hannah O'Flaherty es una joven irlandesa estudiante del prestigioso Colegio O'Keeffe del Condado de Galway, cuya directora es la señorita Murphy. Al ser este un internado, se encuentra en el campo, a pocos kilómetros de la ciudad de Galway; Hannah tiene como compañera de habitación a Tara Keegan, voluntariosa, vanidosa y superficial, por lo que ambas no congenian. El mejor amigo de Hannah es Cormac McNamara, científico y estudioso, pero por demás distraído. Brett Miller es australiano y ya acabó sus estudios secundarios. Vive con su familia en Perth (Australia), en la costa oeste de la isla. Su madre, Jackie, se volvió a casar con Craig Payne, simpático hombre con dos hijos: Wayne, de la edad de Brett, y Meredith, la cual tiene 9 años. Todos forman una familia, viven en la antigua y acogedora casa de los Miller, y aunque Brett y Wayne discuten todo el tiempo y no congenian, son en general felices. La aspiración de Brett es ser un surfista profesional. Las vidas de Hannah y Brett se verán unidas por el hallazgo de un extraño portal. Al mudarse el padrastro y los hermanastros de Brett, éste debe compartir su habitación con Wayne. Meredith, en cambio, decide mudarse al sótano, pero sale despavorida por encontrarlo con muchas bacterias. Al examinar Brett el sótano, descubre una vieja pared que no está tapizada y por el contrario, presenta rocas duras e irregulares, con un grabado celta en la parte superior, a modo de portada. Halla en las proximidades una pieza pétrea de forma ovalada con un grabado, y al lograr introducirla en un agujero de la misma forma, se abre una extraña fuente de luz verde (un portal). Después de superar su desconcierto, se interna en el otro lado del portal, cruzándolo como si fuese una cortina de agua. Se encuentra entonces en el cuarto de calderas del colegio O'Keeffe; para su mala suerte al subir se encuentra en el baño de las chicas, por lo que causa revuelo y es buscado por todos en el lugar.
