勉強も運動もイマイチな小学5年生・江戸城本丸が偶然つぶやいた「ほんとにこまったンガーっ」。それは“大魔法使い・タルるートくん”を呼び出す呪文だった! 父・将軍之介の持っていた古本の魔法陣から飛び出したタルるートは、ひとつだけ願いごとをかなえるという。「友だちになって下さい」という本丸の願いごとで家にいつくことになったタルるート。様々な呪文や魔法アイテムを持つタルるートと本丸は、摩訶不思議な騒動を巻き起こしながらも本当の友だちになっていく…。
