Beim Einzug in Viktor Frankensteins Villa entdecken die Ärztin Charlotte und ihre Tochter Franzi dessen legendäres Monster im Keller und schließen Freundschaft. Der kontaktarme, aber gutmütige Lenni wird von Franzi und ihrer Mutter vor der Nachbarin Frau Mompel versteckt, die sich neben einem kuriosen Fremdwortschatz auch durch penetrante Neugier auszeichnet.
