Struggling art dealer John Davies (Bolam) is putting on an exhibit of works by the reclusive artist Victor Clare (Raven), who art hasn't been shown since World War II. Unusually, the artworks have been stolen by Victor's son Michael (Ronald Lacey), an alcoholic in need of money.
