Durante las populares fiestas de la vendimia, llega a la ciudad de Jerez un joven profesor de Inglaterra para investigar los beneficios del vino para los humanos. A su vez, del cuadro "Los borrachos" de Velázquez, escapa uno de los personajes, con el encargo del dios Baco de defender y difundir la excelencia de los vinos del lugar.
