戦争の初期、若い学生のマキトは、海軍士官の未亡人であるユウコに恋をします。 しかし、彼女は夫の思い出とともに生きており、生徒が好きになったのは妹の由美子です。 そんなある日、亡き夫の友人である若い海軍士官の忠行が未亡人に会いに来て、彼に惹かれる。 マキトは海軍に留学する気になっているが、ユウコとタダユキが結婚することを知って憤慨している。
