Filmen er et humoristisk drama om Laura, der har lagt afstand til sin familie på landet for at leve et kunstnerisk bohemeliv som forfatter i København. Da Laura vender tilbage til sin hjemstavn for at deltage i brorens bryllup, opdager hun, at han skal giftes med barndomsfjenden Catrine. Laura indser, at Catrine har overtaget hendes plads i familien og mærker nu et stærkt ønske om at få den tilbage.
