Julie Meyer, garde forestière pour la Direction des Services Forestiers (DSF), amoureuse des arbres et la nature, découvre le cadavre d’un jeune exploitant en bois dans la forêt aux alentours de Nancy. Samuel Masson, un flic de Strasbourg est désigné pour diriger l’enquête. Tous deux vont aussi résoudre l’énigme de la disparition du père de Julie, quatre ans auparavant.
