Jeune avocate, Yolande Navarro vient de plaider avec succès sa première affaire en obtenant l'acquittement de son client, un voyou accusé d'avoir frappé un inspecteur. Malgré sa fierté, son père lui fait remarquer qu'elle a fait libérer un coupable. Yolande en est consciente, mais elle refuse de cautionner un inspecteur de police ripoux. Bientôt, elle est commise avocat d'office pour défendre Arno Loffeur, un violeur présumé.
