Als die Fluggesellschaft die Angehörigen zur Trauerfeier in das Grand Hotel Heiligendamm einlädt, nehmen auch Thomas und seine Frau Sonja daran teil, um Abschied von ihrer Tochter Anna zu nehmen. Weil er ihr nahe bleiben möchte, kauft Thomas kurzentschlossen einen heruntergekommenen Krämerladen in der Nähe der Unfallstelle und baut ihn zu einer Kneipe aus.
