Near Wild: The Story of the Lindsay Wildlife Museum

Imagine a hospital that will treat, free of charge, any injured or orphaned wild animal you may find. Imagine 6000 animals a year -- from the tiniest hummingbird to a mountain lion and everything in between -- getting help at this place. Imagine that 45% of these animals will be able to return to the wild. To fly, run, climb, crawl and thrive in their natural habitats. Picture a place where a bald eagle with just one wing, or a blind fox gets a second chance and a quality life. Where 100,000 annual visitors, including 40,000 children can come face to face with these animals and learn about them, about the environment, natural history, science and plain just have fun! Imagine 600 volunteers contributing more than 120,000 hours of service each year to education, wildlife care, museum operations, fund raising and outreach -- all to make a place like this a reality. This is the story of Lindsay Wildlife Museum in Walnut Creek, California
