Pepe and Prengel, returning from war, meet Ester and both fall in love with the girl and live together in a deserted house. Fanatic communist, Zelmira, wants to turn their world upside-down.

À la fin de la Seconde Guerre, deux hommes s'éprennent d'une jeune fille juive. Trois personnages sans abri en quête de bonheur et de légèreté dans un monde en reconstruction. Une évocation des difficultés de l'après-guerre dans une comédie dramatique au ton particulièrement excentrique.

Tragikomické ohlédnutí se za koncem druhé světové války a obdobím nástupu komunistické mašinérie. Na tomto pozadí se odohrává chvílemi až snový příběh třech hlavných protagonistů - komedianta Pepeho, frontového vojáka Prengela a židovského děvčete Ester, které sa vrací z koncentračního tábora. Tři lidé bez domova sa snaží naplniť svoji představu o štěstí. Vybrali si však zlou dobu.
