Swimming Lessons explores an evangelical support group for teenage girls, where their capricious minds are redirected towards Jesus. The group's rituals, their hopes, and doubts of adolescent transformation are shown through their theology and encouragement of one another. Braided through the Pentecostal ceremony are two stories from individuals within the community. Their contrasting but parallel narratives describe life-altering experiences and the intrinsic pain of metamorphosis.
