The Killing of a Sacred Deer

Uno stimato chirurgo accoglie un ragazzo sinistro sotto la sua ala protettrice, senza che nessuno ne sappia il motivo. Il suo gesto, che preoccupa la famiglia e i conoscenti, avrà conseguenze disastrose.

Steven, brillant chirurgien, est marié à Anna, ophtalmologue respectée. Ils vivent heureux avec leurs deux enfants Kim, 14 ans et Bob, 12 ans. Depuis quelques temps, Steven a pris sous son aile Martin, un jeune garçon qui a perdu son père. Mais ce dernier s’immisce progressivement au sein de la famille et devient de plus en plus menaçant, jusqu’à conduire Steven à un impensable sacrifice.

Steven é um cardiologista conceituado que é casado com Anna, com quem tem dois filhos. Já há algum tempo ele mantém contato frequente com Martin, um adolescente cujo pai morreu na mesa de operação, justamente quando era operado por Steven. Ele gosta bastante do garoto. Entretanto, quando o jovem não recebe mais a atenção de antigamente, decide elaborar um plano de vingança.

The title comes from Greek mythology and refers to the story of Agamemnon and Iphigenia from which the narrative of the movie stems: At Aulis (ancient Greece), the leader of the Greeks, Agamemnon, accidentally kills a deer in a grove sacred to the goddess Artemis. She punishes him by interfering with the winds so that his fleet cannot sail to Troy. The seer Calchas reveals that, to appease Artemis, Agamemnon must sacrifice his eldest daughter, Iphigenia.
