10年前に岩手県花巻市から上京し、塗装会社の研究員として働いている28歳の本郷トワ。幼少時に父・ゆきおと死別した彼女は、その後に再婚した母親との関係が悪くなり、音信不通のままであった。ある日、トワは同じ花巻出身だという老女の町子と知り合う。花巻に住む孫に手縫いの浴衣を届けようとしていたものの、行けない事情ができてしまった彼女の代わりをトワが務めることに。意を決し、苦い過去のある花巻市へと帰郷した彼女は、いとこのいずみに歓迎される。
