Hanaa Tharwat is a retired Egyptian actress. She was born in 1957, and retired in 1988. Most of her career was focused on television and theater, with a few appearances on film. She is married to fellow actor Mohamed El Araby. She is known for her frequent pilgrimages and visits to Islamic holy sites. She earned a Quran recital certificate from Al Azhar, and has opened a Quran recital school called “Jannaty.” She is also known for convincing Hanan Turk to wear the Islamic veil.
