Eddie McDowd has been terrorizing his school and his town for many years picking on little kids and other teenagers he doesn't like. One day after he picks on a new kid he meets up with a mysterious drifter who somehow knows about Eddie. As punishment he turns Eddie into a dog. The only way he will ever get back to his human form is to perform 100 good deeds. The only one who can hear Eddie speak is the last kid he bullied.
When Eddie is left tied up in the back yard, he gets loose and retaliates by trashing the house, then he runs away back to his own house. Only, when he gets there he learns his parents are gone and won't be back until he does his 100 good deeds. He sets out to do those things, but can't seem to get them right.
Though Eddie can't fool his master, he can fool his master's father. So well, in fact, that he takes Eddie to the doctor. Eddie then thinks he's found the love of his life. There's only one problem: She's a dog.
After Eddie breaks an expensive bowl, Doug grounds Justin because he didn't tie up the dog before he went to school. This puts a damper on Eddie and Justin's Halloween plans. But Eddie convinces Justin to sneak out and pull some pranks that Eddie think are homeless. Meanwhile, Doug calls his wife, who's out of town on business,Mi begging her to help him.
Doug has his work cut out for him. His daughter asks him for a $150 watch. he tells her to get a job, which makes her very upset. Justin, meanwhile, has his heart set on making the basketball team. Unfortunately, his tormentors are on the team and do everything they can to keep him off the team. When Justin tells his father, he tries to give Justin fatherly advise. Instead, Justin decides to listen to the dog.
Eddie is excited when Justin gets tickets to see a movie that Eddie likes. Unfortunately they can only go if Justin passes a test from a no nonsense teacher.
Eddie mistakingly steals a bag of stolen money. Now Justin and Eddie must get the money to the authorities while proving who the robber is. Not an easy feat! Meanwhile, Gwen is sick and fights with her dad over control of the television.
The Taylor family is planning a New Year's Eve party. Gwen gets the idea to sing, much to the dismay of her parents who know she can't carry a tune. Now they have to find a way to let her down gently. Meanwhile, Eddie, who's birthday is on New Years Day, learns he will age seven years instead of one. He fears he will age quicker than he can get his good deeds completed.
Eddie helps Justin impress an older girl by pretending to know all about cars so he can go out with her. She takes him to the dance, but it's not for the reason he thinks. Meanwhile, Gwen has trouble getting a date to the dance and becomes desperate enough to accept a date with the one person she dreaded going out with!
Doug is laid off from the post office during a strike and subs at one of his son's classes. That turns out as a disaster - especially after he announces he's going to go full time. Meanwhile, Eddie get a sudden desire to attack anyone in a uniform - even Doug!!!
Eddie takes credit for saving a man's life when a golden retriever was the actual savior. They both end up in the pound until the guy who's life was saved rescues Eddie. Meanwhile, Doug bets his wife that he can stay away from sweets for a whole week, then bribes his kids to keep the secret that he was cheating.
After Eddie saves Justin's life, he expects to get extra good deed merits, but decides to take revenge when he's only given one. Meanwhile, Gwen grows very jealous that her parents are given Justin all the attention and tries to catch Justin at faking his injuries. Some rather unpleasant results occur.
Gigi is back and has Eddie all smitten again. When The Drifter warns Eddie he needs to get busy on his good deeds, he is influenced by Gigi to go bad. Meanwhile, Gwen befriends Justin's best friend, but Justin thinks she's just using her.
After Eddie causes the dog catcher bodily harm when she crashes into an ice cream cart, she quits. The Drifter bumps his the remaining good deeds back up.
After seeing an article in the paper about dogs being kidnapped, Eddie decides to fake his kidnapping so Doug would pay $100 to get Eddie back. But the scheme doesn't exactly go as planned. Meanwhile, Gwen is tracing her family tree on the Internet and learns she's heir to a rich ancestor named Gwen.
It is April Fools Day and it`s raining real hard so Justin and Gwen`s schools are closed. Someone is pulling pranks at the Taylor house. Gwen, Eddie, Justin and mom get caught in the pranks and they all think it`s dad but he was on t.v. Then, Justin figures out it was mom who was pulling the pranks.
Gwen is failing Spanish but decides to make some money tutoring students having trouble in math. She's surprised at who her student turns out to be. Meanwhile, there's a new dog in town, a Rottweiler, and he is mean. Eddie is scared of him.
Eddie and Justin fight over the new neighbor dog trainer. Tory gets a new lab partner who is supposed to be smart but gets really nervous around her and makes all sorts of chemical blunders.
It is Gwen's Sweet 16 party and Justin's feeling left out. When his dad sends him to his room and grounds him from the party, he and Eddie decide to retaliate and crash his sister's party.

Qwen joins a foreign exchange student program and goes to England.The Taylors have a phone mishap with Tori who mistakes Mr.Taylor for a taylor.They decide to go to England and save Qwen from the Sloans(Tori's parents).Meanwhile their neighbor, Mr.Watt,suspects the family to be behind a jewel hiest that has recently been on the news. Eddie desides to go on a journey of his own and look for his family, since he doesn't feel like a part of the Taylors. Justin goes after him and has Sariffa fill in as him until he gets back...good thing it's only Crazy Grandma watching him!
Eddie gets involved with a group of guys in a circus sideshow that want to hurt Eddie. Justin comes to his aid, but then finds himself in danger. Meanwhile his parents get to England and realise it was all a misunderstanding, Mr.Watt also releases he has been mistaken.Eddie saves Justin from the circus crew and picks up a deed. Eddie has learned to accept his new family, and that family now has a new British guest...Tori.
Sally, the dog next door,get a new dog trainer who Eddie has the hots for. Eddie pretends to be bad and gets Shelby to be his trainer too. When Justin sees her, he falls for her too. Now these too friends are fighting for the same girl, and they don't play nice. Eddie makes it seem like Justin's a bad guy and makes Shelby not like him. In the end, he helps her realise that the bond between him and Justin in special. Shelby gives Justin another shot and Eddie gets another deed.

Sariffa has been getting into the habit of calling Justin early in the morning to tell him about her dreams. Tori says it's because she likes him. But is it true? The Taylors volenteer their house to shoot a dog food commericial in. The commercials star pooch, Mojo, has a dangerous run in with machinery, and can't shoot. Eddie fills in for him and the fame goes to his head.Tori trys her hand at cooking for the crew,however most of her creations don't go over so well.With out Mojo working in show buisness his owner and him become poor. Eddie realises what he's done wrong and gets Justin to help him give his job in show biz back to it's rightful owner.They're sucessful and Eddie gets a deed.Tori also finds out that cookings not her thing.
Eddie and Justin meet a girl and her dog at the park. Using the dogs as an excuse to become friends with her. Doug can't fix the car,Lisa's cassarole burns,Tori's health food diet isn't working.Eddie's preparing for the worst,he thinks his life is over until Justin tells him about the licorice. His family has eaten all the licorice he was supposed to sell, so he raises the money and he didn't even have to go door to door!
Eddie finds another dog,Ruby, that is going through the same thing he is however she only has one deed to go.Determined not to lose her now, he devises a plan to keep her from getting her last deed. Meanwhile, Tori signs up to single handedly run the school charity carnival.Justin and Eddie make a bet that Justin can't do a good deed before Eddie. If Justin wins Eddie has to be his personal vallet for a day, if Eddie wins Justin has to eat dog food for breakfast.Justin says he'll help Tori with the carnival, but refuses to be the soak-a-bloak(guy in the dunk tank).Ruby catches on to Eddies plan and gets mad at him. Justin realises helping with the cotton candy isn't doing a good deed and helping Tori. He decides to be the soak-a-bloak and wins the bet. A man runs up and takes the money the carnival raised and both Eddie and Ruby go after him. Eddie takes a dive so that Ruby can get her last deed and become human again, for this Eddie also recieves a deed.
Mr.Taylor is having trouble with a dog on his mail route. Eddie volenteers to help keep the dog at bay. Meanwhile Justin takes up the trumpet, but can't play.At Eddie's sugesstion,he begins playing a tape so that it sounds like he's practicing.Eddie is baffled by Ike, the seemingly harmless dog that suddenly snaps.Doug threatens to have Ike sent to ""the room"" if he does it again.Eddie finds out Doug's whistling is making Ike mad. He lends him his ear muffs so that he can't hear it. He saves Ike from ""the room"" and picks up a deed. Too bad not all his plans worked, Justin gets busted.
Eddie spys on Justins conversations by way ok walkie-talkie and the Drifter punishes him by taking away his ability to talk to Justin. Eddie also takes Tori's favorite rugby jersey and it goes into the sewer.After losing her jersey,Tori feels homesick and plans a flight back to England. Eddie realises what he's done and retrieves Tori's jersey. After getting it back she desides to stay, and Eddie picks up a deed and gets his voice back.
Justin and Eddie discover a frisbee dog, Spitfire, in the park. His owner,Slade owns a scooder shop and is too busy to enter him in the frisbee compition. Slade agrees to let Justin enter Spitfire in the contest for him. Eddie and Justin train Spitfire for Saturdays contest, but he seems bumed. He wants his owner to be his trainer and feels like he's letting him down. Justin and Eddie get Slade to throw disks for Spitfire at the compition and Eddie picks up a deed.
Justin trys to bulk up to make the wrestling team as a good way to improve his college resume. Meanwhile the new dog is town,Buster is taking all of Eddie's potential deeds with his do-right attitude. Eddie snaps on Buster, who's only trying to be his friend, he doesn't know why doing good is wrong. Justin pushes his training too far and doesn't make the team. He decides to try out for the heavy weights, and when Sariffa trys to stop him he lashes out on her. Justin trys to lift more then he can handle in his new work out center and is traped under the barbell.The bar is too big for Eddie to lift, but with Busters help, they free him. After the insident, Justin makes up with Sarrifa and they decided to train for football tryouts in four weeks. Buster gets what he wants...a friend and Eddie gets a deed, leaving him with only 68 to go.

Justin is trying out for the hockey team, but it seems skills and fair play aren't enough for this team. Eddie shows Justin some foal play, and using it, he makes the team. His new friends don't turn out to be all they are cracked up to be, particularly the team captian Charlie. The group starts causing mis-jif around town and Justin ends up in trouble with the law, and grounded. Meanwhile Tori wins two concert tickets and both Doug and Lisa want to take her....now who to choose? Both try impressing her with her favorite meals, music and ""hip"" clothes. Tori realises that the band wasn't all that good so she gives them the tickets and lets Doug and Lisa go together. Justin also has a choice to make now. Dr.Silver tries talking to Justin and is disturbed when Justin admits that he talks to Eddie. The doctor is ready to ship him off to a special school and get him additional help. He tells him take away as many deeds as he wants, just do whatever it takes to help Justin. Justin and Eddie have been having some problems sharing their room. They decide it would be best if Eddie were to get a dog house, but no ordinary dog house, this is a McDowd crib.Meanwhile Tori and Sarrifa decide to buy a remote controlled air plane and split the cost. They also decide to share the plan...maybe not such a great idea. Eddie gets revenge on an old teacher and Mr. Villman takes it out on Justin. With parent-teacher conferences approaching Eddie's actions might affect Justin's chances of going to hockey camp. Justin and Eddie are planning a day at the beach, however Eddie isn't too thrilled about it. Eddie's finding it harder and harder to do deeds. He gets fed up with it and regresses back to his old bad ways. The Drifter can't control him and is put on suspension by the Drifter Council. Meanwhile while Tori is recording a demo tape Eddie pushes over her recording device. When she plays the tape it's backwards and it reveals an unfamiliar voice...Eddie's. While Eddie's rampaging the neighborhood his Drifter is expelled and can no longer help Eddie or even remember him. Tori finally gets Justin to confess his secret about Eddie's ability to talk.She's amazed by it and starts following him around with a microphone and recorder.The Drifter gets his job back since Eddie's selfless acts to save him were signs that he had changed.
