纪录片《从秦始皇到汉武帝》以最新的考古研究成果为切入点，以展现中华文明青春期最优秀的气质为目的，将汇聚电视、电影、以及历史文献的各种亮点元素、艺术手法，体现上造影视“用电影思维，打造高端纪录片”的宗旨，是一部受众群体广泛的历史纪录片。很多人都认为秦帝国建立，中国从此顺利走向了统一，民族融合的向心力自然形成。其实不然，统一的中国是秦始皇的首创，但是在经过近一百二十年之后，才在汉武帝的手中完成。在如何让天下百姓接受中央统一的过程中，经历了无数的波折，如果在这过程中稍有偏差，中国乃至中华民族将会是另外一个样子。本片以统一国家的主题为主线，从秦始皇嬴政，汉高祖刘邦，汉文帝刘恒，汉景帝刘启，汉武帝刘彻等人物的视角，讲述了统一国家形成的曲折历程，阐述了中华传统文化心理形成的历史过程和历史因素，对今天的观众了解中国历史，了解传统文化，增强国家统一意识都有重要的意义。
