Created in 1952 on Rádio Mayrink Veiga, the school of professor Raimundo Nonato was very successful and won its television version in 1957, being shown on the TV program Noites Cariocas, on TV Rio. Globo, where it was shown as part of the programs Chico City (1973), in its format of three students and teacher, and Chico Anysio Show (1988), with a larger classroom, with 20 students. The idea of transforming the painting into a solo program came from Chico Anysio, and debuted in August 1990 on TV Globo. Initially aired on Saturday nights. Soon after, it was also broadcast from Monday to Friday. In its new format, Escolinha continued to open space for various talents from the old guard and revealing young promises of Brazilian humor. After a period airing on Sunday afternoons in 1995, the program went off the air.
