家境贫困的潘玉龙是旅游管理专业毕业的大学生，母亲重病令他不得不休学打工来赚取学费，后来在邻居兼女友汤豆豆的资助下重新回到了学校。毕业后，潘玉龙考入全国最好的五星饭店——万乘大酒店，并阴差阳错地做了住店的韩国时代公司新任董事长金志爱的贴身管家。故事就围绕着潘玉龙和杨悦、汤豆豆及金志爱之间展开。故事展现了年轻的一代对时代、爱情、成功的一些认识。注重展现了现实与理想之间的差别以及追求自我价值、理想的过程。
