下町のとある警察署を舞台に、昼行灯と噂され、一見ぼんやりしているが、実は鋭い洞察力と推理力を持つ警察署長と彼を取り巻く様々な警察官達の活躍と哀歓をハートウォーミングなタッチで描いてゆくドラマ。 いわゆる「キャリア組」の警察署長に高嶋政伸。二年前の強盗殺人事件で夫を失った女性刑事に水野真紀、「ノンキャリ」の副署長に橋爪功。さらに金子賢、野波麻帆、佐藤Ｂ作、知念里奈、ベンガル、田口浩正、池内万作、加護亜依（モーニング娘。）、もたいまさこ、伊原剛志、星由里子など、実力派、個性派キャストが幅広く集った。モーニング娘。の吉澤ひとみ、保田圭もゲストとして出演。豪華な出演者たちが家族のようにぶつかり合い、励ましあいながら毎回事件を解決し、涙、笑い、感動と三拍子そろったドラマを綴ってゆく。
