天启元年，机关盛行，新旧党派，争权谋乱。齐南府秀才沈问，擅木工机巧之术，某日在路上无意间卷入一起皇宫秘宝失窃案，由此结识了锦衣卫总旗沐思卿。沈问发现锦衣卫寻找的秘宝竟然是当年导致他满门被灭的六合兽图，六合兽图内有皇朝隐秘，为了寻找灭门仇人以及解开六合兽图的秘密，沈问决定暗中布局混入北镇抚司寻找当年真相。
