Die Route des Konvois wurde verraten, deshalb gerate sie plötzlich in einen Hinterhalt von Lorenz' Männern. Eine Gruppe von Killern verübt einen Anschlag, bei dem die Kronzeugin nur durch das beherzte Eingreifen der beiden Autobahncops mit dem Leben davonkommt. Tom und Semir tauchen mit ihr unter. Das BKA bittet daraufhin um deren Mithilfe beim weiteren Schutz von Frau Lorenz. Bei ihren Ermittlungen stellen sie fest, dass die BKA-Soko, die die Zeugin beschützen soll, von einem Maulwurf untergraben ist. Überraschend kommt Toms Schwester Nadja zu Besuch. Bei diesem Treffen werden sie von Lorenz' Männern beobachtet. Als Lorenz vom Besuch Nadjas erfährt, lässt er sie kurzerhand entführen und stellt Semirs Partner vor die Wahl: Entweder er bringt Lorenz dessen Frau oder seine Schwester muss sterben.
The wife of the underworld boss Lorenz wants to testify as a key witness. Tom and Semir provide escort on the highway for the BKA convoy in which Mrs. Lorenz is being transported. The route of the convoy was revealed, so she is suddenly ambushed by Lorenz's men. A group of killers carries out an attack in which the key witness only survives thanks to the courageous intervention of the two highway cops. Tom and Semir go into hiding with her. The BKA then asks for their help in further protecting Mrs. Lorenz. During their investigations, they discover that the BKA special task force that is supposed to protect the witness has been undermined by a mole. Tom's sister Nadja unexpectedly comes to visit. They are observed by Lorenz's men during this meeting. When Lorenz finds out about Nadja's visit, he has her kidnapped and gives Semir's partner a choice: either he brings Lorenz his wife or his sister must die.

Nonostante la bravura alla guida della ragazza i malviventi riescono a catturarla per ricattare Kranich affinché scambi la testimone con la sorella. Tom si trova davanti a una dura scelta e non sa che fare; viene poi sospettato di essere una talpa ma con l'aiuto di Semir e dei colleghi inscena il rapimento della testimone e la porta al sicuro; sarà il commissario Engelhardt a fingersi ostaggio di scambio per liberare la ragazza in una cava di ghiaia.
