While investigating a robbery, ambitious police officer Gina Jenkins and her partner, PC Luke Lloyd, stumble upon a major crime scene. Meanwhile, Gina's introverted brother, Sam, is bullied by a local troublemaker until the man's girlfriend, Mel, gives Sam a package to look after.
As Sam stashes the gun away, Gina checks into neighbors' complaints about hearing gunshots at night. The police question suspects for the murder of local car salesman Stevie Rose, but his widow, Patricia, makes a surprising announcement.
