Barney Pank (Bill Fraser) spent most of his married life in the Merchant Navy as Chief Steward on the SS Addis Ababa, plying between Tasmania and Sumatra. His wife, Ramona (Irene Handl), had learned to cope without him and ran a small hairdressing salon in Willesden, North London. Now, together again after twelve years, they discovered they had very little in common and the series looked at their uneasy attempts to adjust to married life once more.
