Episode 2

Second part of the documentary about Broadmoor, one of the world's most infamous high-security psychiatric hospitals. Founded in 1863, some of the country's most violent offenders are incarcerated here. Many people still think that Broadmoor is the dumping ground for society's most infamous criminals, a final destination which leaves them with no hope of return. Unlike prisoners, they have not been given any fixed sentence and can be held for as long as the hospital and the Ministry of Justice think necessary. In this episode, we meet the men who are preparing to move out of Broadmoor and into medium secure units. This will be their first step on a road which will hopefully lead them back into the community. Their route out is through the hospital's programme of medication and therapy - but can they demonstrate that they are sufficiently recovered and no longer a risk to the public?
