Charlie and his little sister Lola are headed to the library, where Lola can't wait to once again check out her favorite book, Beetles, Bugs and Butterflies. She feels that this is the best book in the world and loves it especially because it makes her laugh. Once at the library, she finds that it's not on the shelf and she's very upset. It's up to Charlie not only to quiet her down, but also to see if he can't find another book that she'll enjoy just as much.
Lola is determined to do "Anything Thats Everything All On My Own", alas, doing things by herself. Some of the things she tries doing on her own are using the computer and pouring juice with little success. Problem is, Lola doesn't know about it. Charlie explains with his friend Marv's help to Lola that sometimes you need a little help with the activity you are doing.
Lola loves dogs, and she would like to have one, but her parents said no because their flat is too small and that she is too young to look after a dog. To make up for that, she has Charlie be a dog, and they play around. Later at the park, Charlie and his friend Marv want to play soccer, but they wonder who will look after Sizzles, Marv's dog. Lola, and her friend Lotta want to be the ones to look after her. With little knowledge about dogs, will the babysitting end in a disaster?
Lola is excited about the upcoming school play and is convinced she'll be chosen for the best role, the sun. She's extremely disappointed that she's not chosen to be the sun and comes up with a great costume to try to convince her teacher that she made a mistake. She's even more disappointed when she finds out what her role is actually going to be. Charlie helps her out to see that each role in the play is very important.
It's time for Lola to have a haircut, but she doesn't want one. Lola just happens to like her hair the way it is. Charlie eventually finds out that the real reason Lola doesn't want a haircut is that she doesn't like the brushing part. With Charlie's help, Lola gets her haircut done.
Charlie and Lola love playing games with each other and Lola's newest thing is wanting to always win. Being as she is, she comes up with some creative ways to get around the rules so that she always comes out on top. Charlie comes up with his own plan to win at something, but Lola's not going to go down without a fight.
It's Lola's bedtime, but she simply refuses to go to bed. So, it's up to Charlie to show her why we need to go to sleep at night. Armed with excuses, and figments of her imagination, Lola tries to keep away from going to bed. Can Charlie finally convince her that sleep is what she needs?
Charlie makes Lola dinner, but she tells him everything she doesn't like, including broccoli, peas, cauliflower, etc., and never, ever, tomatoes. So Charlie tries to convince her to eat them, telling her they're something else. Perhaps she just doesn't like tomatoes is that she's never tried them.
Lola's not feeling well at all. She has a bad cold and so it's up to Charlie to try to cheer her up. Charlie really wants to play a football game with Marv, but he knows he has to do his best to cheer Lola up. He tries giving her a snack, singing her a song, and doing a puzzle with her, but nothing seems to distract her from how bad she feels. Finally, with a little imagination, Charlie comes up with a great way to take Lola's mind off her illness.
Lola for some reason isn't hurrying up to get ready for school, although she says she is. Lola wants some time to color in her coloring book, feed her goldfish, and do countless other things, forcing Charlie to wait. With time getting tight, Charlie intervenes so that Lola can really hurry up and make it to school.
Lola looks for a way to scare Charlie.
Charlie and Lola decide to go on a picnic with their friends Marv and Lotta. Charlie and Marv have their own ideas on just what makes a great picnic, while Lola and Lotta have totally different ideas. One thing they all agree on at first, though, is that the rain that starts falling once their picnic is set up is definitely not a good thing. But with some imagination, they come with some great ideas for an indoor picnic.
Charlie always has imaginative solutions for helping his sister see things in a new way, but he has a real challenge on his hands when Lola refuses to admit to breaking his toy rocket.
It's Charlie's birthday and his family and friends have prepared a special surprise for him. Lola has been let in on the secret and seems ready to let it slip at any time. Desperate to remain in the dark, Charlie shushes his little sister and tries hiding, but it still seems like she's bound to let it slip. Charlie comes up with an imaginative plan to keep his surprise from being spoiled.
Lola has a wobbly (loose) tooth, but she simply doesn't want it to fall out. Charlie and Marv explain to her that everyone loses baby teeth --- they're replaced by much stronger adult teeth. Lola still isn't convinced and Charlie's moose analogy doesn't do anything to help the matter. Then, Lola, learns about the tooth fairy. Astounded by this news, she can't wait to lose her tooth and then she does --- only to misplace it. It's up to Charlie to come up with a solution to this drastic problem, as Lola fears that without her tooth, the tooth fairy won't be paying her a visit.
It's school picture day at Charlie and Lolas' school. Lola has a problem when it comes to picture --- it seems that no matter what, she always ends up getting messy. She's determined this time, though, to stay clean and vows to Charlie that she can do it. But when she gets to school, this vow turns out to be much more difficult than she thought. Charlie, however, has an imaginative idea on how to create the perfect picture.
When it comes to creepy-crawlies, Lola generally likes them. Caterpillars, beetles and even worms are okay with her, but she's just not keen on spiders. She doesn't like the way they move about and always popping up when you least expect it. So whenever one crawls up the drainpipe and appears in the sink, Charlie always has to catch it with a plastic cup and a piece of paper and take it outside. Charlie reminds Lola that there was a time when she didn't like worms or caterpillars, or even beetles. He explains to her some of the many good things about spiders and about how clever they are. He and Lola give a name to the found spider and suddenly she's a bit more keen on it --- especially when it's let outside and she worries about what will happen to it when it starts to rain.
Today is Lotta's birthday and Lola wants to get her a very special present. They've given Lola some coins and they take her to the store, along with Charlie, to pick out a present. Lola has some imaginative ideas for presents --- but Charlie helps her out, reminding her that a good present is one Lotta can actually use and the present must be something that actually exists. So much for Lola's ideas of a "musical skipping rope" or wings for her to fly with. Lola eventually stumbles upon a great idea --- a doctor's kit --- but trouble arises when Lola wants to use the present for herself.
Lola is going on a trip to her friend Lotta's. She's a heavy packer and wants to take all sorts of things, despite Charlie's insistences that all of the stuff won't fit and that she needs to get going. Lola eventually reaches Lotta's, but then realizes that she left her stuff at home. She and Lotta come up with an imaginative new way to play their Cinderella game, while Charlie and Marv use their imaginations to come up with a solution after their toy car racing plans are initially spoiled by a piece of missing track.
Charlie and Marv have been assigned to put on a show about the planets and perform music. Charlie has been practicing on his clarinet, while Marv can use his keyboard to create all sorts of neat noises. Lola wants to join in too, but she doesn't know how to play an instrument and she wasn't selected. Charlie tells her that he's sure there'll be a time when she's selected for her class, but Lola wants to play music now. Then, Charlie gets a bright idea as to how she might be able to play some music.
Charlie and Lola are going to the amusement park and Lola is excited about the idea of perhaps finally getting to ride the exciting ride called the "super duper loop-the-looper." She's convinced that this is the year that she'll be tall enough to ride it. Charlie's not sure --- he doesn't think she's grown all that much. Measuring their heights on the wall seems to confirm it. But Lola's not discouraged and tries to make herself grow. Then, Charlie has an idea on how to convince her that there are positive aspects to being kind of small.
Charlie and Lola are paying a visit to their grandparents. Normally Lola loves to go, but today for some reason, she doesn't seem to want to. She keeps making up excuses for why she can't go. She says that while she enjoys pony rides, she's afraid of hurting the feelings of the ponies she isn't able to ride. As Charlie talks with her, it slowly comes out that she's rather afraid that she'll miss her Mum and Dad. Charlie, however, comes up with a great idea to help her out.
Lola is very excited when she hears that snow is coming. She asks Charlie all sorts of questions about snow and then stays up late to watch it fall. The next morning, Charlie, Lola, Marv and Lotta have loads of fun playing in the snow making snow angels, snowmen and snow-dogs, tossing snowballs, going sliding and more. Lola, however, becomes sad the next day when the snow melts away.
Charlie wants to play a fun game of cards with Lola. It's a matching game called flip flop. Lola, however, is pretending that she has jobs and is "far too extremely busy." She hurries from one job to another --- writing a letter for mermaids, being a dentist and more. It seems like she doesn't even have time for her friends.
Lola has a favorite alligator costume that she wants to wear absolutely everywhere. Charlie tells her that she can't wear it all the time, but Lola argues that she can, as it is her favourite and best. Charlie becomes embarrassed when she wears it to the supermarket and then to the playground. He's in for a surprise, however, when she decides to wear it to a school presentation.
Charlie and Lola receive a toy set from their grandparents called My Little Town, although Lola wants Charlie to think of it as "Our Little Town." It has markers, towers and more for construction. Charlie gets to work building a town with things like cars and airplanes, while Lola just wants to draw flowers and later a zoo. Charlie, however, is rather unwilling to share supplies and Lola ends up with just a couple of stubby crayons and nothing to cover her zoo animals from the rain. With Charlie unwilling to share, the game is beginning to seem no fun.
Charlie and Lola's parents tell them to clean their room. Charlie is willing but has a very hard time getting Lola to cooperate and when she refuses, Charlie moves from the room.
Lola likes spying and observing things and then drawing them. But in doing so, she and Soren Lorenson become convinced that a pack of wolves has moved in next door.
Charlie has a new magic kit and dazzles Lola and their friends with his tricks. Lola thinks that if Charlie is a magician, that must mean that she is a magician too, so Lola tries a few tricks, but becomes frustrated when she can't seem to do any magic tricks.
Charlie and Lola have to amuse themselves when they have to wait for their mother to have her appointment in the dentist's waiting room. They pretend to team up with the Tooth Fairy to defeat the evil pirates and save two children named Smiley Girl and Smiley Boy.
Today is Charlie's birthday, and he is planning a monster-themed birthday party. But Lola hates this theme and starts changing everything, and she starts doing things (such as opening his cards) for him. This annoys him greatly, but she decides to help improve Charlie's party.
Charlie is collecting a set of toy dinosaur figures from cereal boxes, and Lola decides that she'd like to collect something too, but doesn't know what.
Lola feels extremely lucky. But when she and Charlie set out to go to the cinema to see a movie called 'Bat Cat' (a parody of Batman), a series of events convinces Lola that her luck has run out, and that she may never be lucky again.
Lola's favourite red shiny shoes are too small for her. Charlie takes her to buy a new pair, but Lola wants to keep the pair that she has.
Lola and Lotta are best friends. But when Lotta is asked to watch over Evie, a new girl at school, Lotta apparently starts to lose interest in Lola, and Lola is worried that she has lost her beloved friend forever.
Lola is impressed by the tomato plant that Charlie is growing (even though she hates tomatoes). She decides to grow a plant of her own and gets a seed, but doesn't know what it will grow.
Charlie and Lola are creating a circus for their grandparents, with Charlie juggling and Lola desperately trying to do forward rolls. But when he is playing soccer in the park with Marv, Charlie breaks his arm. This leaves the siblings afraid that they may have to cancel the show.
Lola likes Lotta's brand new white fluffy coat. She swaps the coat for a handbag that her mom handed her, promising to keep it clean and intact and return it at school the next day. Lola discovers that this is easier said than done.
Charlie and Lola are looking forward to a Chinese puppet show, but first they must deal with their own squabbling or they cannot go.
Sports day is coming up. Charlie and Marv are going to do the three-legged race, Lotta is going to enter the obstacle course, and Lola is very determined to enter the egg and spoon race.
Granny and Grandpa are taking Charlie and Lola to the zoo. But Lola eats all of her sandwiches before lunch, wastes all her bread to feed to the ducks, uses up all of her camera film, and spends all of her money – when she is set on buying a toy seal for the bath. Charlie reluctantly helps her out, but wants her to learn to save things.
After Charlie reads her a story about an ogre, Lola becomes scared of the dark. But all of the things that make her feel safe keep Charlie awake.
Lola has a fear of getting lost. She is not looking forward to the school field to a maze trip and would rather stay behind. Charlie teaches her some methods that should stop her getting lost and help her if she does.
Charlie and Marv are learning Spanish. Lola would like to learn a foreign language too, but can't grasp it. With Soren Lorenson, she decides to make up her own imaginary language and place – Lolaland.
Lola is very excited for Christmas, but her Christmas is about to be ruined when she mixes Lotta's card for Father Christmas' by accident. When Lola and Charlie find that the door for Christmas on their advent calendar has been lost, they make their own door on the calendar, making their way to the magic elves at the North Pole.
Mom has told Charlie and Lola that they must do many chores, or else Charlie won't be able to watch his favourite TV show, Space Family Hudson. But all Lola seems to want to do is play games.
Lola wants to look after Bert, the class guinea pig, over vacation. Lola figures out how to look after guinea pigs properly, and is allowed to bring Bert home. At first, all is well, but then Bert goes missing.
Charlie and Lola get a pet mouse, which they name Nibbles. Nibbles can do lots of tricks, and they love him very much. But eventually, Nibbles dies, and the siblings must learn to cope with the melancholy of losing a pet.
Lola is very superstitious and gullible. She hops to bed so some "living sea plants" won't tickle her, sleeps tightly so the bed bugs won't bite, washes really hard behind her ears so mushrooms won't grow there, and turns around three times when she sees a magpie. Charlie quickly regrets it when he tells her not to step on the cracks in the pavement, or else the bears, crocodiles and lions that live underneath will get her.
After Charlie convinces Lola to recycle her old toys instead of throwing them away, Lola discovers a recycling competition. If she can recycle one hundred plastic, metal and paper items, she can get her very own real live tree to plant. But she only has two weeks, so Lola decides to ask her classmates to help. They turn out to be extremely very good recyclers indeed.
Lola is learning to count and read at school. But she finds it very difficult and does not like it. Eventually, Charlie persuades her not to give up, and helps her read about Piccolo, a little bird who cannot sing.
While Marv's father takes him and Charlie to the insect house, Lola is left in the company of Marv's little brother, Morten. But Morten is rather quiet and shy, and doesn't seem to want to play any of the games that Lola suggests.
Charlie, Marv, Lola, and Lotta all have to draw pictures of their houses for a school project. They all have their own ways of drawing and look at some famous paintings for inspiration.
It is the beginning of Autumn term at school, and Lola finds that everything is different. She and Lotta have new sitting places, she has a new teacher, the school smells funny, and the leaves have fallen off of her favourite tree. Meanwhile, Charlie and Marv create a time capsule for the Autumn Fair.
Lola is refusing to go to the optician until she sees her classmate Minnie with beautiful glasses. When she goes to the optician, she finds out that she does not require glasses. At home, Charlie helps Lola make her own glasses. At school the next day, Lola, Lotta, and Minnie are wearing their own glasses and are happy.
A thunderstorm is approaching, and Lola is afraid of the thunderclaps. Charlie teaches Lola about weather during thunderstorms and helps her overcome her fear of thunderstorms.
Charlie and Lola just received a new puppet stage to build. When Charlie tries to read the assembly instructions, Lola doesn't pay attention and constructs the stage incorrectly. Throughout the day, Lola discovers her inability to listen to instructions. She forgets her umbrella, gets her elephant puppet all wet, spills water, and more.
After a summer vacation, Lola and Lotta do their traditional gift swap. Lola receives a hat from Lotta, but doesn't like it. Initially, she tries to avoid wearing the hat in public. However, when she accepts the gift for what it is, Lola loses the hat in the wind.
Marv's mother says Sizzles is naughty, so the pair train him. Later, the dog eats Morton's sausages.
When Lola takes her old tricycle to the park, she discovers her best friend, Lotta, has got a new bicycle with training wheels from her cousin. Lola struggles to keep up on the tricycle, and wants a proper bicycle. Charlie decides to give his old bicycle to Lola, who learns how to ride it with the training wheels. The next day, Lotta rides the new bike again, but without the training wheels. Lola feels like she should ride her bike without the wheels as well, but realizes that it is much harder.
Lola and Lotta are pretending to operate a store with a cash register of Lotta's. When Morton comes across the store outside, Lola and Lotta try everything to sell something to him until they sell Charlie's swimming goggles. Charlie, however, was about to go swimming.
Charlie and Marv are working on a school project about creating a new invention. When they struggle to think of anything, Lola joins in to try and make something. Just before the boys are about to give up, Lola stumbles across an idea that may help.
Lola tries different types of dancing.
Lola keeps annoying Charlie by repeatedly asking him for help when she doesn't need it. Soon, this becomes a problem when Lola genuinely needs help retrieving Casper from a tree and Charlie doesn't bother with it.
Lola finds someone else's toy at her school, and isn't sure if she should keep it or not.
It's raining outside, and Charlie and Lola have nothing to do. They go to Marv's house for some games and activities, but Lola has trouble with most of them.
Lola tries to be helpful all the time. When her behavior leads to the destruction of schoolwork Charlie is doing, he thinks that Lola has gone too far.
Lola and Lotta learn about fossils.
Lola is very excited to have her first sleepover with her best friend, Lotta. However, when Lola discovers all of the things different in Lotta's nightly routine, Lola becomes homesick.
On a hot day, Charlie and Lola decide to go outside to be joined later by Arnold Wolf. When Arnold spills Lola's fresh ice cream and refuses to share some of his ice cream, Lola becomes furious at Arnold and decides to not be friends with him anymore. Charlie tries his best to try and get Lola to like Arnold again.
After seeing the other kids at her school playing with hula hoops, Lola decides to make her own craze.

Lola wants to play with Charlie, but he is going to the Sports Centre with Marv. When Lola finds it difficult to play alone and all her friends are too busy to play, she feels lonely. That is until she remembers who she can always play with: Soren Lorenson.
When Charlie and Lola go to the beach by their grandparents' house, they begin their tradition of building a sand castle. However, a girl named Clem becomes curious about the summer's castle. Clem examines Lola's shells, takes Lola's spade, erratically places seashells on the castle, and accidentally falls on the castle.
When Lola and Lotta try practicing a springtime song performance for school, Lola starts laughing to the point of hiccupping. With the play just days away, Lola tries all sorts of methods recommended by her friends to try to get rid of the hiccups.
Lola can't decide on a costume for Halloween.
While Charlie and Marv play a game called "Squidbones", Lola thinks it sounds like arguing, and is convinced that Charlie and Marv are not friends anymore. Later, after writing a letter that says "From Charlie", Charlie explains that he was just playing "Squidbones" with Marv, and they weren't arguing after all.
Lola really wants to try ice skating.
Lola promises to play beads with her friend from school, but then Marv invites her to his space party on the same day! She did promise, but there's going to be games and cake at Marv's house.
