Philadelphia, 1970: Billy Sanders, Sohn eines Predigers, gilt bei der Weiterentwicklung des Phillysounds als treibende Kraft in der Musikszene. The 1970 murder of a musician who was instrumental in creating the Philadelphia soul sound is reinvestigated. The victim tried to keep his involvement in the music scene from his strict minister father. Meanwhile, Lilly meets her teen stepbrother, Finn.

En décembre 1970, le fils d'un pasteur est retrouvé mort dans les rues de Philadelphie, aux alentours d'un club de jazz clandestin.
