Fitz erstellt ein genaues Täterprofil des gesuchten Mörders. Die Spur führt zu Albie Kinsella. Der Psychopath will eine Massenpanik, die 1989 in einem Fußballstadion entstand und 96 Opfer forderte, rächen. Genau 96 Menschen sollen sterben.

Albie is intent on killing the same number of victims as died in the Hillsborough football tragedy, and targets a freelance female reporter. DS Beck stumbles upon him, but makes a tragic misjudgement, leaving Albie free to stab DCI Bilborough to death. It looks like criminal psychologist Fitz will be needed to resolve the situation before any more deaths occur.

Après la mort du commerçant, le climat est très tendu. L'inspecteur Billborough, qui a mis fin à la collaboration de Fitz avec la police depuis leurs violents désaccords, fait appel à un autre psychologue, le docteur Nolan.
