Sue Ellen möchte ihren neugeborenen Sohn nicht im Krankenhaus besuchen. Als J.R. ihr apathisches Verhalten nicht mehr ertragen kann, packt er seine Frau und fährt mit ihr in die Klinik. Dort erwartet sie eine böse Überraschung.

Sue Ellen returns home from the hospital, but is not a thrilled new mom. The family worries she is sinking into depression, not caring about anything, including her new baby. J.R begins to mentor Dallas's newest lawyer, Alan Beam. The rest of the family, minus Sue Ellen, take frequent trips into the hospital to visit John Ross, still too weak to come home. Unfortunately, this does not go on for long because JR and Sue Ellen learn from a group of reporters that John Ross has been kidnapped...

Sue Ellen accouche d'un garçonnet : John Ross Ewing troisième du nom. Mais elle ne s'intéresse pas du tout à son bébé. Cliff n'a qu'une idée en tête : récupérer celui qu'il pense être son fils. Les deux anciens associés de J.R., Jebb Ames et Willie Joe Garr sortent de prison. A ce moment, John Ross est kidnappé.
